Children’s Vision Testing

As all of our optometrists are mothers themselves, Valery, Liza and Julia understand the importance of children’s vision testing and of testing in a nurturing, caring and fun environment.

Vision is often considered the most important sense when it comes to learning; and more than 80% of all school tasks are based on vision. Vision is the key to a child’s whole development. Not only school achievement, but also personality, posture and adjustment to life are closely integrated with vision development.

Comprehensive vision assessment for children involves testing and evaluating:
• Distance and near visual acuity
• health of the eye and clarity of vision
• Binocular eye movements
• Coordination stereopsis (ability to see 3d)
• Colour vision
• Accommodation and convergence (focusing skills)

Regular children’s vision assessments are very important for early detection and treatment of eye problems. These include; turned eye (strabismus), amblyopia (lazy eye), high prescriptions and focusing ability. All these conditions can hinder the child’s visual development, performance at school and their confidence to interpret their environment.

Therapeutic Testing

Valery, Julia and Liza have all completed their further degree in Ocular Therapeutics and are endorsed to diagnose and treat any anterior eye diseases with the appropriate ocular therapeutic medicines. All your red and sore eyes will be managed appropriately. This also includes removal of any foreign bodies that can cause great discomfort to your eye. This level of testing is offered to all our patients as part of the comprehensive eye examination.

Visual Field Examination

At Eyedentity we have the latest technology in visual field analysers that provide quicker, more accurate testing, with immediate results analysed by our optometrists. Each eye takes only 5-10 minutes and the examination is Bulk Billed to Medicare.

A visual field examination is a computerised test, designed to assess the functioning of the optic nerve. This is done by measuring your central and peripheral vision perception and sensitivity.

Visual field examinations are useful in the early detection of many diseases such as glaucoma, MS, strokes, migraines, head traumas and anything else that can damage or interfere with any part of the visual system.

OCT – Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an established medical imaging technique that uses light to capture micrometer-resolution, three-dimensional images within your eye. We use OCT to see the retina and its distinctive layers.  This allows us to diagnose and monitor conditions like diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other retinal problems. Myopia Control

Prevalence of myopia has increased dramatically over the last 30 years and is expected to be a global epidemic by 2050.

Myopia or short-sightedness is a condition of the eye where distant objects appear to be blurry while close objects appear normal.

The underlying cause for myopia is believed to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Some risk factors include family history, lifestyle, prolonged periods of digital device use, near work and greater time spent indoors.

Current research has shown that there is an epidemic of myopia worldwide.

Our optometrists are highly trained and motivated to implement myopia control in your child.
